MCA Driver Downloads
The IXRF Model 500 and earlier systems interface from the PC to the EDS
electronics via a custom PCI card. This is referred to as the PCI MCA
card. A device driver for the PCI MCA card must be installed on the
computer prior to the installation of the EDS software.
To install the device driver on the computer:
- Download the device drivers here.
This file, drivers.exe, is a self-extracting EXE file which contains device
drivers for the PCI MCA card. After you have downloaded drivers.exe,
run it to extract the files. The default destination of the files is
c:\software\drivers.
- Download the EDS2006 manuals. You will
need the manual titled "PCIDriverInstall". Follow the
instructions in this manual for the installation of the driver.
Note:
After installing the PCI MCA card driver, please check that the card is
running properly. This is described in the manual in the sections titled
"Examining PCI MCA Card Driver." The device status should state
"This device is working properly". If it does not state this,
then the PCI MCA card may need updating. This should only be the case for
PCI MCA cards produced prior to March 2001.
To update the PCI MCA card:
- Download mcafix.exe
and open it. This will extract the necessary files to a folder on the
computer.
- Copy the extracted files to a floppy disk.
- Boot the computer from a Windows/95 or Windows/98 floppy disk. This
should display a DOS prompt on the screen. You cannot use as DOS
window from Windows/95, 98, etc.
- Place the floppy disk from step (2) above in the floppy drive.
- Type MCA and press the Enter key. This executes the DOS batch file
MCA.BAT which is on the floppy disk.
- Remove the floppy disk from the drive and restart the computer.
- You can now install the driver for the PCI MCA card.
