Application Specialist

Job Description: 

The Application Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise in the support of SEM/EDS and XRF techniques and vertical marketing workflow development.  They will perform high-quality SEM/EDS and XRF product demonstrations including the development of new techniques and applications for IXRF Systems channel partners and customers.  The Applications Specialist will conduct customer training and translate customer needs into workable solutions.  They will cultivate positive customer relationships and act as a high-level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, explain complex technical details, give in-depth technical presentations, and assist in applications development.  The Applications Specialist will provide support to the marketing team on applications solutions in specific industry areas understanding the business and scientific context around customers’ requirements.  Customer support and applications training, post-sale and after the instrument has been installed, will be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Run prospect samples and write sample analysis reports
  • Perform demonstration of instrumentation/software in-person and virtual
  • Develop and manage sample analysis queues, and regularly communicate analysis timelines with team members
  • Run in-house samples and write associated scientific materials supporting marketing communications
  • Provide customer software and applications support over the phone and via email

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in scientific or engineering field (Scanning Electron Microscopy and/or X-ray fluorescence experience preferred)
  • Exceptional communications skills (writing and presenting scientific reports)
  • Knowledgeable with all MS Office applications
  • Location greater Austin
  • Fluent English
  • Must be willing to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 20%
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs to occasionally pack and un-pack instrumentation
