The ATLAS-M benchtop micro-XRF spectrometer from IXRF Systems, Inc is in the criminal forensic lab examining the evidence in the new CBS Original Series, CSI: Vegas.

Micro-XRF, as an analytical tool, combines several features that make it ideal for investigating forensic samples. The technique can scan large areas, provides simultaneous information on multiple elements down to the trace element level, can be applied under ambient conditions, and is non-destructive.

Because Micro-XRF is such an excellent tool for forensic investigation, forensic consultants working with CBS wanted to put our ATLAS-M into their new original series, CSI: Vegas, because the ATLAS is well known for its capability and versatility.

It will be exciting to see how the ATLAS will be used to analyze the evidence collected on the scene and showcased throughout the season.  The ATLAS-M is particularly useful in Forensic Sciences because of the wide variety of sample types it can analyze, including but not limited to gunshot pattern/dispersion, glass chips, rubber, paint, soil/geological material, metals, money/coins, glitter, and more.

Some of the original (and our favorite) cast members return to the show to follow the evidence. So, stay tuned, as this will surely be an exciting season!
