Meet Adan Flores, Production and Field Service Engineer
This month, we’re spotlighting Adan Flores, Production and Field Service Engineer at IXRF Systems. Adan helps manufacture, integrate, and support our advanced microXRF spectrometers while serving as an important bridge between production and the field. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking with his golden retriever, Enzo, attending live music, and seeking out his next adventure. Keep reading to learn more about Adan!
Can you tell us about your role at IXRF Systems?

- As a Production and Field Service Engineer, my role is to oversee and assist in the manufacturing, integration, and on-site support/service of our advanced microXRF spectrometers. From previous experience working with electro-mechanical systems and even throughout my childhood I have always found interest in learning about how things work so I knew I was born to be an Engineer, little did I know it would lead me into the wonderful niche world of spectroscopy and elemental analysis. I like to imagine my job consists of building extremely fancy toys for scientists and showing them how to properly play with our custom toys in their playground; but instead of a toy it’s a highly technical analytical instrument and instead of playgrounds they’re various industries such as semiconductor, geology, and battery research.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?

- Although I drive a Toyota 4Runner and love the comfort of AC while binge-watching TV shows and movies, I am a thrill seeker at heart. From climbing 14,000ft mountains in Colorado to being in the cockpit of a Corvette C8 on a racetrack, I thoroughly enjoy living life on the edge from time to time! Even when I’m at home, I somehow get a thrill from watching horror movies and sitting at the edge of my seat in suspense like a maniac.
What are your current professional goals?

- I strive to become an expert in learning the nuances of our products’ hardware/software to provide a finished product that is as consistent as it is efficient. By acting as the bridge between field and production, I can cultivate strong relationships with our clients while gathering critical information and feedback that could directly impact our companies’ efforts in continuous improvement.

- I cannot emphasize enough how work culture plays a crucial role in my success. Ambition and hard work can get you far, but having open communication and collaboration within a cross-functional team allows me to effectively work with our software and applications team to better troubleshoot issues and understand how the various pieces fit into the puzzle.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

- In my spare time I genuinely enjoy finding new hiking spots around Austin with my 4yr old golden retriever named Enzo, taking occasional group trips with friends, and going out to see live music!
